The Path Towards A Brighter Smile

The Path Towards A Brighter Smile

A beautiful smile is a charming asset. Your smile is the first thing people notice about you, because we naturally look at facial expressions first instinctively.

If there is something about your smile that is distracting, it will affect that first impression, and lots of other impressions further on. Yes, humans are a bit shallow, but there isn’t much you can do about that.

If your smile is imperfect, it is likely not your fault. Our smiles are largely a result of genetics, but childhood conditions and dental care do play a factor.

The good news is, that you do not have to accept the smile you have. Here are some ways you can improve those choppers.

Talk To Your Dentist

The first place you need to start is with a check-up and some good advice from your dentist, you can talk to a cosmetic dentist in Chatswood or in your area who can advise you regarding treatment. Your dentist will know straight away if your smile can be improved through orthodontics or cosmetic techniques.

There are several procedures that are available in dentistry. From improving the alignment with braces or aligners, to adding crowns or implants. They can also do teeth shaping or add a veneer to your teeth to improve the whiteness.

Your dentist will have had years of experience and will let you know if you need a procedure, or if you can whiten your smile through a cleaning and better dental care.

Schedule A Cleaning

Dentists suggest that you schedule a cleaning every 3 to 6 months. But most people do not go nearly as often as that.

A cleaning will do a lot of things for you. First, it will help you prevent cavities by knocking down any plaque strongholds. Cleaning is good for your gums, and it will help fight gum disease.

Cleaning also makes your teeth whiter, which is the main point. And it will also freshen your breath. All these things go towards improving your smile.

Improve Your Dental Hygiene

At the minimum, you should be brushing your teeth twice a day, and for two minutes each time.

If you purchase a mechanical ultrasonic toothbrush, many of them can indicate how long you have brushed, and when to move to the next area. Use a good quality fluoride toothpaste and consider adding baking powder.

Tooth Friendly Diet

There are foods that are not very nice to the enamel of our teeth. Some acidic foods work to break down the enamel, and some foods are likely to cause stains. Coffee, tea, and wine are prime offenders.

Ironically, tea is loaded with polyphenols that work to build up your teeth and reduce bad breath. Another dietary tactic is to include food items that improve your intake of calcium and phosphates to rebuild enamel.

A lovely Hollywood smile is possible for almost anyone these days. It will require some commitment on your behalf, and possibly some cosmetic enhancement from your dentist. But it is something that is worth the effort, because everyone loves to see a healthy smile.

And if you are happy with your teeth you are going to smile all the time.
