Fashionistas worldwide recognize Dolce & Gabbana as the pinnacle of Italian fashion. From classic signature looks to stunning Alta Moda creations, the Italian fashion brand has been making its mark in the fashion world for more than three decades.
However, the duo is no longer content to confine their creative talents and innovation to the world of fashion. Instead, Dolce & Gabbana has been expanding its reach. If you are curious about Dolce & Gabbana’s success and expansion, here are a few examples of what the Italian brand has been up to over the past few years.
Continue to Lead in the Fashion World
Year after year, Dolce & Gabbana impresses the fashion world with its Alta Moda runway shows. Last year, in Venice, Italy, the fashion house stunned onlookers with a show that included an audience full of celebrities, a preshow with Jennifer Hudson singing “Nessum Dorma,” and a unique group of young models, including the offspring of Heidi Klum, Sean Combs, Christian Bale, and Monica Bellucci. The highlight of the evening was the collection of stunning couture delivered by gondolas, followed by a well-timed rainbow to end the show.
This year’s Alta Moda show was equally impressive when the duo revealed 58 handmade, one-of-a-kind archive looks at the Ikmah Fashion Fashion Show in Saudi Arabia. Highlights included:
• A stunning full-skirted gown hand-painted with violet blossoms
• A fringed cape covered in red sequins and dotted with pink flowers
• An ethereal dress complete with feathers and gold hand-painted detailing
• A black flowing gown with trails of pink flowers
Collaborate With Young Rising Designers
When you are trying to get your start in any line of work, having the support of someone already established in the field can be invaluable. Trying to become a new designer in the fashion world is no exception, and luckily for some up-and-coming designers, Dolce & Gabbana has been willing to step in and lend a helping hand.
Miss Sohee is one such designer. Born in Korea and based in London, Miss Sohee began as an illustrator before shifting her focus to fashion design. The vibrant colors, bold prints, and playful imagery of her illustrations come through in her designs, resulting in some stunning pieces that have captured the attention of the fashion world.
Dolce & Gabbana recognized Miss Sohee’s potential and began collaborating with her, providing advice and logistical support. The fruits of their collaboration were revealed when Miss Sohee unveiled her new collection during Milan Fashion Week last month.
Similarly, Dolce & Gabbana has partnered with Harris Reed, a British-American designer whose design aesthetic breaks free of societal expectations, eliminates the limits imposed by gender, and celebrates individual expression and freedom. The results of the collaboration were showcased at NYC’s Met Gala, where supermodel Iman made a stunning entrance with a head-to-toe look of gold brocade, cagework, and feathers.
Enter Into Exciting Partnerships With Other Companies
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have not limited their creative vision to fashion. Instead, in a series of partnerships, the Italian duo has added their designer touch to everything from Baci® Perugina® special edition chocolates and Donnafugata wine to Smeg kitchen appliances and Motorola cellphones.
Launch a Lifestyle Brand
After enjoying successful partnerships in several areas outside the world of fashion, Dolce & Gabbana recently launched Casa, an exclusive lifestyle brand. With products ranging from throw pillows to dinnerware, each item is beautiful as well as functional.
In keeping with the Dolce & Gabbana aesthetic, the Casa line features four signature looks to ensure there is something for everyone:
• Blu Mediterraneo collection
• Carretto Siciliano collection
• Leopard collection
• Zebra collection
Dolce & Gabbana is not a typical fashion brand. Rather, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are true innovators in the fashion and lifestyle worlds, delighting fashionistas with their consistently high-end creations, mentoring young designers, adding an unexpected special designer touch to unique products, and now launching their own lifestyle brand.
